The Catered Affair brings much more than food to the table. What started with founder Holly Safford and a toaster oven in 1979 has grown to become New England’s premier catering and event-planning company with a 15,000 square-foot headquarters, 300 employees, and an undisputed reputation for excellence.

Even before Safford began working with the legendary Julia Child, her early clients included then-Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis, senator Ted Kennedy, Prince Charles, and Nelson Mandela. Today The Catered Affair is a sustainability-minded, family-run company that produces large-scale events for non-profits, corporations, and private clients at an array of spectacular Boston-area venues. They are also well-known for their discreet and elegant work in the homes of their clients.

The Catered Affair’s ongoing mission is to exceed client expectations, putting customer service above all else. From private dinners to elaborate galas, Safford and her team orchestrate every detail of the celebration and serving up all the accouterments, from white-glove service to décor, with skill, elegance, and sophistication.

Weddings are a special area of expertise for The Catered Affair and they approach them as much more than a walk down the aisle. The rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and morning after are all thoughtfully planned to create a cohesive experience for the bride and groom, their families, and their guests. Their goal for every client is to make sure their special, once-in-a-lifetime event will be talked about for many years to come.
