Classic Cocktails: The Martini, Manhattan, and Champagne Cocktail
- Cracked ice
- 2 1/2 ounces London dry gin, such as Plymouth or Beefeater 24
- 1/2 ounce dry vermouth, preferably Noilly Pratt
- Green olives for garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the gin and vermouth. Stir well and strain into martini glass. Garnish with three olives on a sterling silver martini stick and serve.
- 1 3/4 ounces Canadian Club whiskey
- 2/3 ounce sweet vermouth
- 1 dash of Angostura bitters
Place ingredients into mixing glass and stir. Strain into stemmed martini glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry. I like adding an orange twist too.
The Champagne Cocktail
- 2 ounces cognac
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 sugar cube
Place the sugar cube in the champagne flute and soak with the bitters. Add the cognac and finish with the champagne. Garnish with an orange twist.
