The Five Best Beer-Based Cocktails

Where’d you get that, dark and handsome?

Hosting a Super Bowl party this Sunday? Consider serving one of these five beer-based libations as your signature cocktail. Festive and delicious, “ale-tails” add a chic and sporty touch to game-day soirées. Use the brews suggested, or try your hand at crafting your own beer at home by using this kit to make your own India Pale Ale, this one to make your own American Pale Ale, and this one for home-made Irish Stout. And when the time comes for a toast, you can lather on these beer-loving words from The Bartered Bride, a comic opera “drafted” by the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana in the 1860s:

You foam within our glasses, you lusty golden brew,
Whoever imbibes takes fire from you.
The young and the old sing your praises,
Here’s to beer,
Here’s to cheer,
Here’s to beer!

Stir gently with a straw to combine the ingredients before drinking. Add extra lime juice, if desired.
